Adults with Down Syndrome and autism share their life, love, and independence on the 410-acre ranch where they live and work 30 miles east of Austin. We produced several effective fundraising videos over the years, but this one was actually submitted as evidence in an Ohio court case to demonstrate how intentional communities like DHR should not be considered “institutions.” After watching this video, the judge could see the positive impact and ruled in favor of adults with IDD getting to choose life in these types of communities.
